What is the California Property 80 Hour 8 Day Rule?

The California Intrastate Property 80 Hour 8 Day rule applies to Intrastate Truck Drivers operating under Title 13 of the California Code of Regulations Part 1212.5(a).

 

The California Intrastate Property 80 Hour 8 Day rules are:

  • A truck driver operating within the California Intrastate Property 80 Hour 8 Day rule cannot work more than 80 hours in an 8 consecutive day period.

  • A truck driver operating within the California Intrastate Property 80 Hour 8 Day rule cannot work no more than 16 hours.

  • A truck driver operating within the California Intrastate Property 80 Hour 8 Day rule cannot drive more than 12 hours.

  • A truck driver operating within the California Intrastate Property 80 Hour 8 Day rule must take a mandatory 10 hours off duty before beginning a new work period.

  • A truck driver operating within the California Intrastate Property 80 Hour 8 Day rule must take a mandatory 34 hours off duty before beginning a new 8 consecutive day work period.
